|2007- JULY 12 Commissioner Hanson Names Stephanie Andrews Deputy Commissioner of Department of Finance|
St. Paul-Minnesota Finance commissioner Tom Hanson today announced that Stephanie Andrews will fill the previously vacant position of Deputy Commissioner of the Minnesota Management & Budget.
Andrews, who has served more than 13 years at the agency, will now oversee the economic analysis, treasury, information services, general support, and human resources divisions.
"I've worked with Stephanie in her current role as Executive Budget Coordinator and Team Leader for several years," Commissioner Hanson said. "I'm excited to put her knowledge, leadership, and management skills to broader use in the agency."
Andrews' appointment is effective immediately, although she will gradually transition into her new responsibilities and out of her current role, with full transition expected in June.
Stephanie Andrews started at Finance in January of 1994 as a budget officer assigned to K-12 education. Until her new appointment, she managed a team of five budget analysts focusing on financial, budget and policy issues that related to state government, higher education, family and early childhood education and K-12 education.
Prior to her employment with the State of Minnesota, Andrews was an analyst on welfare reform programs for Abt Associates, a public policy consulting firm in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She has also worked for Olsson, Frank and Weeda, P.C. in Washington D.C. as a legislative and legal analyst, and worked in the government relations department at The Pillsbury Company as a writer and researcher. Andrews earned her B.A. in political science from the University of Minnesota, and her masters in public policy from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
